Who We Are
Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology is one of Canada’s largest colleges. We are a group of 12 students from Algonquin College, studying in the Office Administration – Executive program and Business – Management & Entrepreneurship program. Our programs of study focus mainly on administrative and business support.

The Purpose of Our Visit to Naples
We are on a two-week international volunteer work placement in Naples, Italy hosted by IVHQ – International Volunteer Headquarters, supporting current NGOs (non-government organizations) and their partners including:
- Project Ahead – Societa cooperativa
- DialoguePlace
- Erasmus – European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students.
Focus during our 2-week work placement includes the following:
- Researching opportunities for young entrepreneurs to bring their ideas to market.
- Exploring solutions for young immigrants, second generation immigrants and young unemployed locals facing difficulties in entering the job market.
- Create a network for incubation programs that support the creation and development of social innovation projects and social enterprises in Naples, Italy.
- Find innovative ways to integrate special needs young adults to work placement and locate partners in target countries.
- Identify social/green start-ups and define best practices.
- Assist with networking, crowd funding, websites and social media.
As administrative and business professionals, our transferable skillset is valued in supporting NGO initiatives.

The positive initiatives of NGOs are often limited and staffing resources and our support as international volunteers is invaluable to allow NGOs to further their efforts within the community. As administrative and business professionals, our transferable skillset is valued in supporting NGO initiatives, with a need for volunteer support in administration, networking and communication, and English language support.
The opportunity to add an international work experience to our resume, demonstrates to employers that we are confident, flexible, adaptable, have problem-solving skills, have strong communication skills and are able to work across cultures and with diverse groups of people.
